and receive a free irrigation turn-on this spring!*
Until recently, the irrigation controller that turns your system on/off throughout the growing season has not been very smart. It can turn off the irrigation when it is raining, via a rain sensor, but other than that, you or someone who maintains your system, like us, would have to manually adjust your system so that it delivers the correct amount of water throughout the season.
When irrigation systems are activated in spring, your controller is set for the conditions at that specific time. When it gets hot and dry, the system needs to increase watering duration and frequency. When fall approaches, watering needs to be reduced. If you were to adjust your system every day, based on sunlight, temperature, soil types, wind speed, humidity and rainfall/irrigation history, you would be close to the peak of efficiency. But only close! You would save money because of reduced water consumption [or electricity, if you have an irrigation well], and your landscape would not be over or under watered.
Today’s new technologies allow for near-perfect watering cycles. Toro’s Intellisense controllers actually download weather data via satellite and upload rain events every day. The resulting watering schedules are optimal and adjusted each day. In fact, in side by side comparisons, two of our clients with nearly identical properties compared their watering bills. The client with the Toro Intellisense controller paid $100 less for her monthly water bill compared to her neighbor with a standard Rain Bird controller. She not only saved money but her plants thrived with precision watering.
If you are a Rain Bird controller owner, the good news is that your existing controller may be upgradable to a new Rain Bird smart controller. Rain Bird’s system uses a mini-weather station to collect data and program watering cycles. This is a great option for Rain Bird owners and works nearly as well as Toro’s Intellisense controller, based on our observations.

If you contract with us between April 1st until April 30th, 2010, to upgrade your controller to a smart controller [either Rain Bird or Toro], we will give you a free irrigation turn-on* this spring... and you will save money all year!
*excludes other promotions, with a maximum credit value of $80. Repairs to the existing system, if needed, are excluded.
Our installation of new irrigation systems are included with this promotion with a credit for fall winterization not to exceed $80.
